| Ok then at long last I'm getting off my a$$ and getting a resto thread up for the bus! She's a 1964 bus imported from Arizona, so she's from a dry state. Don't know too much else about her to be honest, although I can pin point her home to probably 100 mile radius of a music venue in Arizona as I found a pair of concert ticket stubs for ... think it was the Velvet Underground at a place called the Marque Club. So I looked up the bands tour dates for that year and found it was in that state. Only got the current pictures from the work i've been doing since a week before Easter, but will get some of the older ones up when I can find them! Ok then .... I took the bus off the road at Christmas after hauling a tonne of flat pack back from Ikea as the rear suspension felt 'wrong'. The first time I noticed something was up was after a Lifeboat shout last summer where I was driving down the Toll Road & the rear end was all over the place & nearly caused me to crash So I checked it out and found that one of the 19mm bolts that holds the reduction box to the spring plate was missing! Upon closer inspection I realised that 1/2 of it was still actually there, but snapped off in the reduction box. So I finished the show season in it, but checking the tightness of the other three bolts before EVERY journey & stopping along the way to recheck them, which after the RNLI shout were only finger tight from the movement caused by the broken one After that I laid the old girl up on the drive , as the other problem I have with her was that since before I bought her, she's had no reverse! Photos to follow tomorrow! |

| As some of you will know I went for a job interview about a week ago & got offered a new job! So why you're asking has this got anything to do with my resto thread .... well it means I'm going to be having a week & a half off between jobs so I can get cracking with the big jobs that lie ahead on Babylon! I've been amasing a hoard of parts over the 2007 show season in readiness & here are some of the parts that I've got to fit: 4" narrowed CB slam beam re-worked by T2D 4" narrowed leaves Narrowed track rods New steering joints (outers are bay ones) Machined bottom arms for the above beam (including re-worked to take the bay joints & better travel for the shocks) New lowered shocks all round GT swing axle gearbox (Birthday prezzie from Sharon) '68 bay window rear suspension arms Wide 5 Type3 rear brakes & hubs Dual circuit master cylinder kit 1776cc flowed engine with only several hundred miles on it & still needs final running in! External oil filter Twin Dellorto 36's CB hex linkage & manifolds BMD Iron Cross serpentine pulley kit (Chrimbo prezzie from Sharon) Technocar regulating fuel filter 2 more side pop out windows & s/s hinges Full new marine birch, one off, hand crafted (by Sharon's cousin who's a cabinet maker) interior including front and rear facing seats, table that doubles as the centre of the bed, rear hatch area side cupboards, top box & cargo door cupboard for a small stove. (Will get the pics up over the weekend) And I still need to get the custom s/s Turbo Thomas full system that I'm in talks with him about at the moment, that will replace the J tubes, header & Mondo currently on the bus. This system will totally rock as it has the header/muffler connection side facing & only about an inch lower than the bottom of the engine block, as I plan to give Rich a good run for his money on the slammed bus stakes! And also got to get my dropped spindles sorted out either by Splitfire Paul or shoot them up to T2D when I send them back my exchange lower arms & leaves. |

| Oh yeah! Want to do a couple of minor jobs in the under side while i've got the running gear out, including welding in the cab floor half, welding over the cut out in the cargo floor where the water waste pipe was, and also mig'ing up the screw holes in the cargo floor where the orginal American interior was. Also going to plumb in the thermostatically controlled Propex heater that will sit under the back seat & make Babylon all toasty! |

| Sounds like a cool plan to me but aren't the 68 bay suspention arms for IRS , and the GT box for a straight axle kit? | |
