| Not a lot unless you get them re banded and thats gonna cost you loads! you could always narrow the front and rear end, if you a bit good with your geomatry ect. _________________ Slam it, Rat it, add some bling then Run it!

| It is possible dude. The guy who did the manifold work on the Notch offered to narrow my 5.5j Fuchs to 4.5j for me. I chose not too as they wouldn't have the correct offset, and at the end of the day, they wouldn't be what I want, 1967 911 'S' wheels. _________________ |

| I don't think banded wheels are actually illegal. Just very frowned upon, because alot of people, without the right equipment or skills were doing it. Putting alot of unsafe wheels on the road. If done correctly, imho, they're fine... Have you seen how little weld holds together a factory wheel? And as for sectioning an alloy wheel and re-welding it, it will depend on the quality and ratio of the metals used in it... 100% quality aluminium will be no problem. But if it has alot of magnesium and monkey metal in it, you just won't be able to weld it. _________________ It's not bodged!.... It's genius engineering, using only what is at hand!!! |

| If they are illegal then i want them! lower me until i am in breech of the law as well! The '67 S rims are really sweet but want to do something original, porsche only made 400 '67 S models so arguably they are super original but the whole 5 spoke fusch type thing has been done over and over and want summat fresh. perhaps the peppers are not want im actually after, even foose rims start at 18' and 7J... thinking i need to get some cut to order, who knows, all i know is i want to get it right. If I can get the peppers narrowed a little then they may well fit the bill... maybe I should call chip Let's get the old girl more local and laying on her belly then I will know whats gonna suit |

| Its not illegal - its just usually done poorly so a bad rep ensues. I wouldn't fancy running rewelded alloy, for the reasons dave stated - it will just crack aound the weld. Done properly it could work but you'd only find out if it didn't when it was too late... There are repro teledials about in different widths and stud patterns, they just dont come up often. 944 ones are 7j. 924S are 6j. What is this to go on, fasty? _________________ Party On Dude!

| Found out for sure ..... They are not illegal IF the welding has been certificated .... so you need a proper firm who are able to supply certificates to proove the welding is safe _________________ Nomates ........the Rev and gordo ....me bro'.....turning prefectly good beer into piss, since 1990

| Yep parsons for the fasty, the last thing I want is the wheels falling in half though Even if the welding was certified then there is still nothing to say they are not going to crack? if i'm correct then the weld will be stronger than what it is welded to so therefor putting extra strain on the rest of the wheel? So how narrow to fusch alloys get then? without backtracking, they are adorable rims and perhaps this is the reason so many choose them over other alternatives. Might just paint her brown, cream vinyl roof and slam her to the floor on standard rims with trims! that'd solve it! |
