A GTI golf has a 'lifter pump' inside the tank. In the rear spare wheel well you should be able to get to it via an access panel (3 screws hold it in place)
What engine was the Rocco before you 'GTI'd' it?

i heard there was a lifter pump, but we changed the main fuel pump all together which now pulls and pushes rather than gravity fed so didnt think i would need the lifter pump.

can i not just make the in/outlet holes bigger? ill try to find the gtx models

I wouldnt of thought the fuel lines would make that much difference would it?? Maybe fit a Fuel pressure gauge inline and see if your regulator is working properly??

Thats what everyone was saying to us when we done the Nova but thats what the problem was on that..
TSR.. AC SERVICES.. The race/rally bloke that used to be at Bridgwater college.. And a couple other know it all mother fuckers..
All said it's other things and it wouldn't be the fuel lines ect..

Might not be in your case but def worth trying the jerry can and a bigger return in to it though... If anything you'll have ruled that part of it out..

Im using 1.8 8v Fuel lines on my mk2 Golf using a GTI lifter pump in the tank and VR6 external pump under the car. Still holds 4 bar pressure at the fuel rail and returns enough to the tank.
But like Crewkid says it is possible this could be the problem.
