PostSubject: Message for Dreadie   Message for Dreadie EmptyMon Jan 18, 2010 2:02 pm

I am writing you this quick message to correct a few things that you have posted on the unfortunate accident that my friend Leanne had with your white Beetle.

Firstly I would like to say that there was never a problem with Leanne’s insurance. She had held insurance for over 10 years and unfortunately this is the first incident she has ever been involved in. She has fully protected no claims bonus.

The reason we offered them an alternative to going through the insurance was, as we all know (most) insurance assessors don’t care about or understand the importance of classic vehicles to us the owners of them & would prefer to just write them off Sad

I was not offering to repair the Beetle myself, but suggested that they get a repair quote from Vince, as he works on classic VW’s all day long & then Leanne would pay for the work to be done.

The girls decided that they would prefer not to take this alternative & go through the insurance route as the Beetle is their only form of transport & that they would get a courtesy car until their Beetle was repaired thus keeping them on the road. Totally understandable so we agreed to get them the insurance details as soon as we could as she was staying over at our house for the weekend. The following day Leanne rang her brokers Swinton, reported the accident & got a claim reference for the girls without a problem.

When they told us they would prefer to do things through the proper channels there was no problem, as Leanne is fully covered. She offered them the alternative as she felt bad that their Beetle was damaged as she knows how much myself & Sharon love our cars & wanted them to be able to get someone who knows air cooled VW’s to have a look at it for them, rather than a faceless modern body shop, who are more likely to mess things up.

Going through the insurance will not cost Leanne anything as she is fully covered, whereas offering to get Vince to quote to repair the Beetle would have cost her out of her own pocket to have repaired.

The incident was unfortunate & actually caused by a 3rd party who was driving like an ass coming the other way along the untreated road. Leanne was driving at something like 5 mph due to the icy conditions and if she had not taken evasive action all three cars would have been involved.
She was totally gutted that she had run into an old style VW. Leanne offered to get the Beetle repaired off her own back, but now it looks like the assessor might write it off …. This is why we offered to have it repaired for you girls!!!
Sorry to hear they may write it off. I did try to warn you they might. It’s never nice to see a classic dub written off because it’s not viable for an insurance company to fix it Sad

Lastly I did mention that we used to be part of the DBS club, but due to differences of opinions between ourselves & a few others within the club we decided to leave. Nothing derogatory was said about the club.

I do hope your bug does get fixed for you & the offer of the free rear tombstone light unit is there if you want it …. Even though you have incorrectly stated some of the facts on your post. I hold no grudges with yourself or anyone else in the club, so you know where I live & have my telephone number if you want the light Smile

And lastly. Yes, all Hells Angels are gay. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise Message for Dreadie Suspect

Regards …. Rick.

Hello again Rick..

I didn't see this message until just a moment ago when it was pointed out to me by another member, so i apologise for the delay.

Everything is being sorted through our insurance companies now, so i no longer have any contact with your friend, and this is also the reason i have not called you back, although your kind offer of the tombstone light thingy is appreciated, there is far more damage to our car than just this, plus when it is fixed we won't really need it anyway, so it maybe cool to keep it incase you ever need it for your own reasons.

I however stand by my posts on the thread about the accident, and do feel that initially Leanne was evasive in regards to sorting out insurance, and it wasn't until a dozen phone calls the same night and next day (which were mainly ignored) that we finally got it sorted.

I was not at the scene when the incident occured, so i do not know specific facts about speeds, or other cars, what i can tell you is where i parked my car - diamond batch, on the side of the road, behind another car, just in front of the central island, so that no other car could park behind me, to avoid a situation of coming back to my car being damaged, but alas as people say 'shit happens'.

We do have a courtesy car, and we are awaiting confirmation of our bug being fixed, but it is highly likely that it will be done, to a high standard - as we have our own choice of which garage we can use to have the work done, so don't worry yourself too much on what standard that will be, as there are plenty of fab people on here to point us in the right direction, along with having some members owning units themselves.

I don't know the background between you and this club, or other club members, and that is not my concern, although it was a little confusing to find you posting in the guest area (hence why i never noticed it) under a different name, if there is no derogatory feelings i am perplexed as to where your member name is.

I mean no offence, I was extremely upset about what happened to our car, especially considering that we had just begun throwing a lot of money into it ready for the new season along with it being our daily drive.

This situation is really, in honesty, between myself and your friend, and although you feel the need to inject your input to the situation, which is already a done deal, unfortunately, it is not a constructive way for us all to carry on and conclude this silly chapter, that i can only wish never happened in the first place.

Regards

The Girls.

Glad the Beetle is now getting sorted Smile
It sounded like the assessor was being a beggar from what I read in the thread in chat. Sad

Hope it gets done to how you want it done & good news hearing you can take it to a place of your choice rather than theirs!

The 'there are plenty of fab people on here to point us in the right direction, along with having some members owning units themselves' is probably the same chap I was recommending! LOL Very Happy

I meant no disrespect to yourselves, just thought you would like to know the facts of how the accident happened & the fact Leanne couldn't get the insurance details to you on the Friday as she wasn't home.
If she was trying to avoid her obligation after an accident, then she would have just driven off without leaving any details as it's a pretty quite road there.

Anyway, the main thing is no one was hurt. It's a shame it happened and it was an accident & not malicious & it can be fixed.

Hope it's all fixed & like new for you to start the upcoming V-Dub season in style! afro

Peace out . . . .
