Ok guys so here's "The Vamp" as taken pics this morning Smile

She's a '65 1300 currently with a 1200 lump as the original 1300 siezed, but we're getting the engine thrown in with her as it's the original engine.
The history to her is that she was laid up in 1983 by the current owners mate, who took her off the road to restore her after Uni, but never got round to it & she sat unloved in the garage until Matt the current owner rescued her in 2006 & got her back on the road & has driven her from then till the present day, but they also have an old Audi as well & live in Bedminster on the hillside & can't practically keep 2 cars on the road & the roadside is definately not the place in Bedminster to keep a '65 bug!

Carl & myself were both blown away at how solid she is affraid
I kid you not guys (& Carl will back me up in this i'm sure) as far as we can see she completey solid & needs no welding. She's had some in the past inc. heater channel ends etc but they are extremely professionally done & I wasn't even sure if it was welded until we looked closer Smile
Matt has the wide trim to re fit to her & a new set of German wide trimmed running boards he's throwing into the deal. She's also got a Turbo Thomas s/s exhaust system on her well.

I took her for a spin & we will need to 'tighten up' the brakes as Matt told us the one of the rear drums had been machined a little too far in the past some time, but hey what's a new rear drum between friends? All the copper brake pipes have been replaced as well.
I parked her up after the test drive not too close to the curb & Sharon commented that my parking was $hit, until I told her now it was her turn to take it for a test drive as I was buggered if we were buying it unless she had a drive too! As she will be driving her I thought it better before we bought the '65 that she was happy with her as she'd never driven a bug before this morning Laughing

The only thing I can fault her on is the parking ding on the bottom of the bonnet & bonnet handle where one of the less than careful Bedminster residents 'manuvoured' a little too close to her Rolling Eyes

We should be picking her up on either Friday or Saturday next week

Oh yes guys she will get the front closer aquanted with the tarmac as soon as we can afford it! The rear is already lowered a bit I think, but will have a better idea when that front is slammed Twisted Evil
As for the indicators .. we had thought of the lower outer wing mounted OEM bullet indicators . . . What do you think?

I really love ....and I mean BIG TIME oem bullet indicators.....however since they are only us spec....I feel they don't look right on a RHD bug...and a RHD bug is cool enough...........I personally would give it the winkers it would have had originally......however its your bug ....so ignore this ...its what I would do if I owned your bug.....and as you know...I don't!!! No .....more the pitty...........

...make it yours......it will rock whatever you do.......its WELL cool Very Happy

The indicators only look daft because they are mounted through the horn grills.
Lucas indicators should be under the headlamps.......I have a pukka pair of Lucas clear flat lens indicators that I may be interested in selling of you could be interested.

Tells the history & some cracking pics taken when he found her in his mate's milking shed after being dry stored for 24 years affraid

Enjoy .... http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=379929
