So for 6 hours today my dad and I boxed the rear bed out. Making units either side, and a locker underneath. Managed to re-use some old wardrodbes K was chucking out of her folks home, so the whole thing owes me a about a fiver for screws and brackets etc. Charlie pictched up and made the teas. Pics to follow. Still need to make some hinged doors for the 2 side lockers. I even designed a magazine rack into the design. Then went to drive back home and the door handle has jammed, no idea why, stripped the door panel off and investigated. The wire had come off, but that doesnt explain why the handle has jammed. Oh well. That'll be the next job when I get a miunte. Dont suppose anyone has a spare late bay door handle and key hanging around for a temp solution do they? afro

Not finished yet. I wanted to make it completely free standing so it didnt need to be fixed to the body in any way. I also made it millimetere perfect for a double inflatable mattress. Smile Need to put doors on the side units, and also a 2nd handle on the locker. The spare wheel is also now hiddden in the locker, along with the jack, axle stands, oil etc etc:

Yeah that'll be the next job bud. But I want to do some tidying to the inside anyway. My main priority is getting the back end dropped and it sign written. Then in my head the outside will be almost perfect. Smile

I know bud. Theres 2 things im desperate to get done before CTTP. 1. the rear end down, 2. signwritten. Problem is the artist at work who is painting it for me has been in ita;y for 3 weeks, but she's back next monday. I'll jump on her (oooh er) when she gets back and beg her to squeeze the painting in. Smile

Put some bling on today, got the old kerb feelers out, and sound proofed the engine bay (internal). Tried to get the 3 inch peep mirror onto the rail too, but it was having none of it, and bending the arm with a hefty hammer didnt help it either. Suprising really, that fixes most ailments usually. lol!

PostSubject: Re: Beetlebums Panel   Beetlebums Panel - Page 9 EmptyWed Apr 18, 2007 2:19 pm

Cheers guys. All the things I'm putting into effect now are things I dreamed about when it was in primer or when it was raining, and I needed to keep my enthisiasm up. Anyone notice the custom made decals on the door bottoms? I wish I could have had it lowered at the back by Sunday, but the garage I take it to (VW Autobodies) has been seriosuly short staffed after a mechanic broke his neck or summit, and I'd never take it to Arnies. On the plus note, it's booked in for Sunday 29th to get dropped, then in my head thats the outside done, its the turn of the inside then. On an even better note, tonight at 6pm the artist starts to sign write it for me! affraid Cool Smile Very Happy
