I was going to give them a shout once I am back up on my feet about a 3" narrowed item and bung it on with some dropped spindles........
I might take my wings off and get the stone guard holes welded up and all repsrayed along with the decklid too.......
If I get the bonnet done I will be happy with the body paint then.
Just need to get the pan detailed at some point........think I will have to put some pennies aside.

IF i were you I would give tidders a call at deluxe motor works and buy the whole kit.....shocks/leaves/tie rods etc I think from memory the whole kit with everything you would need worked out around 550 quid....

Pity I had to chisel the header off, that could have slipped onto the 72 and gone along with that rake you put on it.......

So how long was this beetle underwater??

mechanically brake/engine/gearbox are in very very good condition its just the body thats rotten....in fact after looking around the car the only places where there is no rot is the roof and the deck lid

well, in the circumstances of all that rot & in keeping with it being a red beetle (passing on the baton so to speak), then all the good bits.........y'know the engine etc, should be transplanted into say another red beetle of there abouts the same age.............it'd be a tribute!

Now who do we know with an all red 70's beetle?? hmmmmm

I had a good conversation with Arnie Levics this afternoon who actually remembers the 1776 engine build....managed to get a few more details out of him

you puttin on a leckie pump & regulator or just a boggo mechanical one?

stock pump....only running a single carb so no problem with fuel starvation.....if twin carbs were going on then a leccy pump would be going on

Right folks Engine is being sold and some other bits and pieces are being sold....but unfortunately i'm going to break it up....if anybody is interested in anything let me know and i'll save it for you.....likewise if anybody wants to buy it complete let me know
