Some say that it's structure comprises mostly of chicken wire, and that a porsche engine will "fit straight in the back of that mate"

(One of the above is almost certainly true!!!)

Thats un polished dude, but it is a nice day haha!

Lookin at welding O/S channel, some inner wing work, area behind battery and same n/s, thats just for starters. All wings are scabby, the engine is a runner but untested due to intermittent starter motor, some electrics work some dont, its on 155/15's at the mo but not gonna blow budget on superficial things, just gonna try get the MOT essentials nailed first.

Looks worse than it is i reckon, but none of its a surprise or nasty shock, just an opportunity to get grinding and practice welding!

So far i have... Ripped the shite interior out, removed running boards and placed them in my bin and poked and prodded areas.

More updates soon! Very Happy

I doubt it will be the starter motor, its usually voltage drop caused by dodgy wiring or a crap ignition. There are 2 tests for this, one involves shorting out 2 connectors on the back of the ignition, with the key in the normal running position (if it turns then its just the ignition switch) if that dont work you can short out 2 connectors on the starter/solenoid (dont try this unless you are sure you have the right ones and a suitable bit of wire or you may need that extinguisher) Also a fully charged/known good battery helps.

Good advice dude, some ignition monkeying and a fully charged secondhand 065 i nicked from work and starting a treat now.

Put £5 of clean fuel in and ran engine for bout 10mins then emptied oil and put fresh in just to run and then flush through, loads of gunk very black but no smoke and ran surprisingly smoothly. Only mishaps are one nut running round before refilling with oil but a few washers will sort that, and dash light staying on so next step is to test if battery is charging...

Stig of the dump at the minute!

Today I:

Fixed the puncture in the spare and put it on the o/s rear which was flat, and has a tube in. Hate tubes so thats goin to get sorted tomorrow. Had to go and get a big breaker bar as the wheel was on soooo tight the threads were almost mashed.

Tested if the battery was recieving charge with this...

Introducing....THE STIG Bug012

Which it wasn't, so, 30seconds later, found a loose connection on the regulator

Introducing....THE STIG Bug013

and voila, gen light out and batt charging fine, happy me.

Flush with success I decided one problem solved wasn't enough, and decided to take off the O/S rear wing to assess the rot underneath - bad move, cue 1 1/2 hours of cursing and self inflicted injuries. Found what i expected - big holes oh dear...

Introducing....THE STIG Bug014

On the plus side, its looking half ROD at the mo lol!

That tar type soundproofing stuff is bastardly sticky. Took yonks but now i can see what im dealing with. Unsure whats to do just a few patches needed really, but could go the whole hog and put some nice shiney pans in and not have to worry bout doing it in the future.

Could really do with someone who has had a bug at this stage of project come and have a look and give me some advice, i'd rather not bodge around problems as the car can take as long as i like to finish seeing as it looks like im keeping the escort for a daily now. Any volunteers?!
