Morning all. Just thought that I would introduce myself.
I am new to the VW scene having only just brought my first air cooled car at the ripe age of 37. The car is a project for my daughter who's 12 and I. One day I am hoping it may become her first car.
The car itself is a 1975 Bug. It's a 1.3 with twin carbs. In need of a fair amount of body work, but mechanically seems pretty good. She's affectionately known as 'Doris the Dub' The plan is to get welding pretty soon, get it on the road for next summer then go from their. I'm certainly not a mechanic, in fact I'm a salesman for a living. So this is very much an aspiration not a deadline!!
I thought I'd come along to the meeting tonight onto introduce myself. However, I am wondering how I will recognise everyone? So if you see a rather bald, plump guy about 5"8, in his mid 30's, umm OK nearer 40, looking lost then that'll most likely be me!
Why join a club? I'm pretty sociable, I'm happy to get involved when I can, help out others and hopefully learn how to do things as I go along. One day when money allows I'd love to have a go at restoring a Camper. But that's a few years away I think.
