| hi all, the cttp was awesome and made me want to get tango back on the road for the summer! So today, finally got around to dropping out the engine to get at the fuel tank and find out how big the hole was that it failed the mot on! I've posted a few pics up here with the aim to keep a record of the project http://www.richasykes.co.ukand will get some up here asap also. As usual forgot to take pics untill half way through, but then not sure how I was going to whislt holding onto the engine and jacking up the van lol The tank has a small hole so any ideas of where to get a decent replacement and which type of the two versions it is?

| update: had a baby girl on 21/11/07, so we've had our hands full! Van picked up just before Christmas and towed off to a workshop back home in Cornwall. All panels bought to replace the bottom 6 inches and the front clip. Going to convert it to the early bay round bumpers, low indicators and early front arches. new paint vw dove blue to the top and dash, and then a pastel white roof, bumpers and inside. new rubbers to go in all round and looking to lightly tint the side and rear glass (any ideas of where to send the glass?) Should be back by Easter for the refit of electrics, engine and interior. In the mean time: need to take a peek at the engine... |

| Spent the week in Cornwall working on the van. Converting the van to lowlight indicators and round bumpers, as it is a x-over model anyhow. So after chopping out N/S inner and outer arch and welding in early flat lip arch and new inner (and bottom of B-post which had rotted away.) Then removed old deformation panel (behind front bumper) and front panel. This revealed more of the crusty stuff which needed some TLC, the redhot edge of my grinder and some lovely fresh metal! here's some pics of the progress thus far http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=29762&l=951a3&id=571507096 |
