thats mine, there are 34 teeth but the chain ring is fixed, the crank is not the original.

To add to my list i also need headset bearings as its tight to turn

It will be running an A-Headset so if you loosen ya allen bolts on the top and rear side of the stem wack the top of the stem with a piece of wood to loosen the whole lot fill with teflon grease. Then lifting the front of the bike off the ground by holding under the bottom fork crown tighten the top bolt of your stem untill all play is gone turning the bars as you do it so it does not over tighten when happy tighten ya bolts on the rear side of ya stem job done. This may save you buying new bearings or headset and its a two minute job. Very Happy

If you are going to run complete single speed i would go for a splined BB and crank as there is to much torque put on it for square taper crank and you will be for ever replacing it.

cheers bud for advice, i have replaced the headset bearings but if i do the allen key up to tighten the play on the front, its to tight to turn, if i slacken it slightly to loosen the front i end up with slight play Sad

im going to run the single speed crank but have gears on the back wheel if this makes sence

Right firstly your headset; if thats the case unfortunatly that means your cups are worn so new headset is needed- FSA "The Pig" is good one at about £20.

Single speed with gears on the rear you can get away with the cheaper square taper crank as long as you not doing massive jumps and dropins
but you will need to run a front chain device to stop it coming of the front chain rings-DMR do gooduns if you need help fitting anything im more than happy to do it as used to build bikes as this will save you loads a coin as bike shop labour is expensive in my opinion. Very Happy

I will post some pics up later for you as my boss is glaring at me lol!

right it is a "Semi Integral" headset you need for the XS2 it sits flush with the top of the oversized headtube but it is not a full integral one and there are a couple out there for around twenty quid i will find out the best cheap one to go for dude! Very Happy
